Nakul’s only goal in life is to finish it. After several failed suicide attempts, he pays for his own death. Upadhyay, a deadly assassin is assigned to get the job done. But Nakul has a change of heart. He chooses to live, however Upadhyay never leaves a job undone. An riveting cat and mouse chase ensues while a divine intervention flips everything upside down in this black comedy thriller.

The 8-part Afsos is a thriller and black comedy, all rolled into one, with an enthralling premise. Nakul, played by Gulshan Devaiah, is a suicidal young man, with a penchant for trying all sorts of ways to commit suicide and failing at all of them. Dejected, he hires a hitman Upadhyay to do the job for him, but something happens to make him change his mind midway. But once given a job, Upadhyay makes it a point to complete it.

An intense cat and mouse chase follows, coupled with interesting situations. The most ingenious part of the narrative is the inclusion of a divine intervention and an immortality angle that adds a delicious twist to the end. The show has been written by prolific stand-up comic Anirban Dasgupta, with ample support from Dibya Chatterjee and Sourav Ghosh.

The ensemble cast includes comic Danish Sait, who’s playing a Russian assassin in the show, Aakash Dahiya, Heeba Shah, Dhruv Sehgal, Anjali Patil, Ujjwal Chopra, Ratnabali Bhattacharya and Jamie Alter. Oh, and yes, Biswa Kalyan Rath and Anirban Dasgupta himself, both skilled stand-up comics, play cameos in the series. Upadhyay’s identity remains a mystery, to be revealed later.
